Title
Authorizing the expenditure in an amount not to exceed $90,000 from the Water Operating Fund for the purchase of commercial water meters; and declaring an emergency.

Body
SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
This ordinance authorizes expenditures for the purchase of commercial water meters for the water distribution system. This work is necessary to maintain safe, reliable water service and to collect revenue from commercial accounts in the City of Toledo service area. Ordinance 386-17 previously authorized entering into a contract with Badger Meter Inc and authorized the waiving of competitive bidding. The previously authorized contract and its unit pricing will be utilized for this expenditure.

Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the amount not to exceed $90,000 is authorized for expenditure from the Water Operating Fund Account Code 6060-34000-4000506STDSTD for the purchase of commercial water meters under the current contract with Badger Meter Inc.

SECTION 2. That the director of finance is authorized to issue her warrant or warrants against the account codes listed in Section 1 in an amount not to exceed $90,000 in payment of the obligations authorized upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.

SECTION 3. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force immediately from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property and for the further reason that this ordinance must be immediately effective in order to permit the earliest possible repair of critical elements in the City's water distribution system.
